Walnut Banana Bread

Advertisements

A classic banana bread that’s moist, sweetened with honey and has lots of chocolate chips and walnuts for a crunchy and nutty taste!

This is an old recipe of mine I use to make ALL the time. I love bananas! I’m not lying when I say I have one everyday, even when I’m on vacation. When I went to New York for my bachelorette this past month, I made efforts to stop by a market to get a banana. I just crave it! It’s such a convenient fruit that doesn’t require washing beforehand and it’s easy to peel!

Sometimes, I buy extra bananas to ripen on purpose so I can make banana bread. This is one of my favorite go-to recipes that I’ve been making for years so I thought it’s about time I shared it here with you all! I made them into very thick slices!

I’ve made this recipe many times over and over again – and I hope you will love it if you get the chance to make it as well!

Tips for Baking Banana Bread

Bananas: Bananas act as a binder and helps sweeten the loaf naturally, requiring less sugar in the recipe. The riper the bananas, the better. Make sure they have brown spots on them . They can also be placed in the fridge once they’re brown and spotty if you aren’t using them right away.

Fats: This recipe uses butter or ghee. You can also replace it with oil. You can also try using unsweetened applesauce in replacement of the butter/ghee as well. It may alter the texture a little but still works great!

Add-ins: Fold in walnuts, pecans, chocolate chips, dried fruit like cranberries or raisins or a sprinkle of oats. Tailor your loaf to your preferences!

Don’t overmix: Mix until you don’t see any flour streaks. In quick breads, overmixing will cause the cause the gluten proteins to develop a stretchy elastic batter. This will cause a tough texture and may not rise well.
