Beef Pepper Rice (Pepper Lunch)

This meal is simply sliced beef, onions, rice and a savory sauce tossed in. Pepper lunch originated in Japan. It's typically served on a sizzling hot plate which gives the meat a sizzle and extra browning.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz sliced shabu beef
  • 1/2 yellow onion sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup corn kernels
  • 1 large bowl day old rice
  • butter to top on tice
  • green onion garnish

Black Pepper Sauce

  • 4 tablespoons light soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 4 cloves garlic minced

Instructions

  • Preheat pan to medium heat with oil. Add in onion to cook until translucent, then add in garlic. 
  • Push onions to the side, then add more oil to pan to cook beef until nicely browned. Spread beef and onions evenly on pan, then add rice in the center.
  • Sprinkle fresh corn on top + green onions. If desired, add 1 tablespoons butter on top of rice.
  • Mix everything together and serve warm!
