Healthier Baked Chicken Katsu

You can make delicious Chicken Katsu that is healthier but still crispy and juicy with this baked recipe! It's lighter and so simple to make with just a few ingredients. I served it with a quick 3-ingredient katsu sauce I make ALL the time at home!

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breasts about 3/4" thick
  • sea salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs

3 Ingredient Katsu Sauce

  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon light soy suace

Instructions

  • Adjust an oven rack to the middle position and preheat the oven to 400ºF.
  • Season chicken on both sides with salt and pepper. Place flour, eggs and panko crumbs in 3 separate shallow dishes.
  • Coat chicken in flour, shake off any excess, then dip into egg and coat with panko.
  • Line baking tray baking sheet and spray oil on top. Place chicken pieces on top and bake for 30-35 minutes, depending on thickness of chicken.
  • When chicken is baking, mix together tonkatsu sauce. Serve chicken katsu over rice with katsu sauce and side of veggies.
