Ingredients

  • 2.5 lbs beef short ribs
  • 3 tablespoons miso paste white or red
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon mirin
  • 1 tablespoon sake
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 garlic cloves smashed
  • 1- inch piece of ginger sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth or water

Instructions

  • Make the Sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the miso paste, soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, and beef broth (or water) until smooth and well combined.
  • Add to Instant Pot: Place the short ribs into the Instant Pot. Pour the sauce over the ribs, making sure they’re mostly submerged. Add the garlic and ginger slices.
  • Pressure Cook: Seal the lid and set the Instant Pot to High Pressure for 35–40 minutes. Allow it to naturally release pressure when finished.
  • Optional – Reduce Sauce: For a thicker sauce, turn on sauté mode after cooking and let the sauce simmer for 5–10 minutes, stirring occasionally until slightly reduced.
  • Serve: Serve hot over steamed white rice and garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds.
