If you’re looking for a quick, nourishing breakfast for your baby, this baby French toast recipe is a staple in our home. It’s made with just three simple ingredients plus a sprinkle of cinnamon – and it freezes beautifully, making busy mornings so much easier!

The Best Bread for Baby French Toast

I love using real sourdough for this recipe because it’s naturally fermented and easier to digest. My favorites are:

I always check the ingredients to make sure there’s no added honey, sugar, sweeteners, or seeds. The ingredient list should be simple: flour, water, and salt. For real sourdough, there’s no commercial yeast added – it relies on natural fermentation.

Simple and Healthy Ingredients

What I love most about this recipe is how simple and nutritious it is. Eggs and milk provide protein, healthy fats, and key nutrients like choline, which support your baby’s growth and brain development. There’s no added sugar, no complicated steps – just whole ingredients you likely already have in your kitchen. It’s a wholesome breakfast that feels effortless.

I also love mixing in a baby food pouch, especially from brands like Serenity Kids – into the egg and milk mixture for French toast or even waffle batters. It’s such an easy way to sneak in extra nutrients, healthy fats, and flavors without any extra prep work. Depending on the pouch, you can add veggies, fruits, or even protein blends, which makes the final result even more nourishing while still keeping it simple.

For my 8-month-old, I cut the French toast into strips for easy self-feeding. Once she develops her pincer grasp and can pick up with two fingers, I’ll cut them into bite-sized squares.

Freezer-Friendly Instructions

This French toast freezes so well, which makes it a perfect meal prep option.
