Our mornings are full of multitasking, snacks and sweet (sometimes crazy) moments. I’m a mom of two (a 5-month-old and a 2-year-old), and this is what our first wake window looks like from 7:30–9:30 AM. Plus, this morning was extra special because it was my baby’s very first day of baby-led weaning! Here’s how we start our day and everything we use to make it easier.
And just to be honest, this is more of a loose routine than a strict schedule. There are always pauses to soothe someone crying, spills to clean up mid-task, and unexpected diaper changes. But this rhythm helps us ease into the day, even when it doesn’t go exactly as planned.
7:30 AM – Baby Wakes Up

- The Striped 2-piece set outfit I’m wearing
- My baby and toddler both use the same Breathable Mesh Crib in the color Natural
- Diaper change and morning feed
- Linking my FAVORITE breastfeeding pillow
- Wake window starts
My 5-Month-Old’s 3-Nap “Schedule“
| Time | What’s Happening |
|---|---|
| 7:30 AM | Wake up & start of the day |
| 9:45–10:30 AM | Nap 1 |
| 12:45–2:30 PM | Nap 2 |
| 4:45–5:15 PM | Nap 3 (short nap) |
| 7:15 PM | Bedtime feed, placed down for the night |
Wake windows: 2 to 2.5 hours
Note: Nap 3 is usually shorter (30–45 minutes). Once her wake windows lengthen, we’ll transition to a 2-nap schedule (around 6-8 months old). I don’t see it happening around the 6 month mark for my girl. It’ll likely be closer to 7-8 months.
8:00 AM – Toddler grabbed from crib

- Potty time (We use the BabyBjorn Potty)
- Hair time: ponytail + brush out
- Changed into her outfit for the day
8:15 AM – Breakfast prep begins

- Playtime while I get breakfast ready
- Baby: Placed in baby bouncer
~8:30 AM – Breakfast at the table

- My toddler sits in a booster seat and baby in high chair
- For toddler: tortilla egg roll-ups, avocado, and banana (Easy Scoop Plate)
- For baby’s first meal: mashed sweet potato mixed with fresh breastmilk (from morning letdown) and banana
- Stainless steel suction plates (what my baby used)
- Sleeved bib (a baby-led weaning must have when they first start!)
8:45 AM – Clean up & dishes

- Toddler helps bring dishes to the kitchen (I always have her bring her own)
- Wash hands after her meal (Standing tower)
- I wash dishes and reset the kitchen
9:05 AM – Reading and playtime

- Read books together on the play mat (LOVE the Toki Mats. Here’s a link to 15% off!)
- Baby practices sitting and reaching for toys (Lalo Play Gym)
- Toddler joins in or plays independently
9:25 AM – Toddler helps with matcha
- On days I make matcha, she helps with pouring the milk and matcha shot
9:30 AM – Baby goes down for nap

- Diaper change & down for a nap (She currently uses the Halo Sleepsack in 0.5 TOG)
- She usually falls asleep within 5–10 minutes!
It’s Not Perfect, But It’s Ours
This morning routine isn’t flawless or quiet. It definitely includes some cries, snack crumbs, and spills. But it’s the rhythm that’s working for us right now. I’m learning to hold space for both structure and flexibility in this season, especially with two under three.
If you’re navigating mornings with two little ones, I hope this glimpse into ours gives you some ideas – or at least helps you feel a little less alone in the early hours.

Hi Winnie! Question about feeding between these wake windows, for your baby, do you offer two feedings during the second wake window since it starts at 10:30, and the third one starts 4 hours later at 2:30? I’m trying to figure something out that will work for my 4-month old as she’s showing signs of needing the longer wake windows now, but getting the feeding timing right has been tricky. I find myself unsure about feeding cues so I just try to offer a feeding to see if she’s hungry, but that’s also challenging when she’s mostly bottle fed breast milk. Would love a blog post about a full day of wake windows and feeding all in one.

Hi! I only offer a feeding after she wakes up from a nap and before she sleeps. If you feel like your baby needs it, you can feed them before a nap too! I offer a feeding at 10:30am when she wakes from her first nap and than another feeding when she wakes up around 2:30pm, so it’s 4 hours between the feedings.
