Snack time with a toddler can feel nonstop! I’m always looking for ways to keep it simple but nourishing. These 5-ingredient energy date bites have become one of our go-to snacks. They’re quick to make, toddler-approved, and only take a handful of pantry staples.

They’re soft, naturally sweetened with dates, and nut-free thanks to sunflower seed butter or tahini. We make these together often. My toddler loves pouring everything into the food processor. I love watching her try a bite with pride knowing she helped make them.
Why I Love These as a Toddler Snack
Toddlers thrive off snacks! They’re constantly growing, moving, and needing little bursts of energy throughout the day. That’s why I try to be intentional about what I offer. I don’t stress about being “perfect,” but I do aim for more nutritious options made with real, wholesome ingredients.
These energy bites check all the boxes:
- Dates for natural sweetness and fiber
- Oats for long-lasting energy
- Sunflower seed butter or tahini for healthy fats and protein (you can also sub another other nut butter if your toddler doesn’t have an allergy like mine)
- Coconut for texture and extra nutrition
- And a pinch of cinnamon for a cozy flavor
They’re soft enough for little ones to chew easily and just sweet enough to feel like a treat, without any added sugar.

Storage Tips
These are perfect for prepping ahead!
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week
- Or freeze for up to 2 months and defrost as needed
I love keeping a batch in the fridge for grab-and-go snacks during busy days.
Make It Toddler-Friendly
This recipe is a fun way to get toddlers involved in the kitchen. My daughter helped pour all the ingredients into the food processor. It turned into a mini activity and snack all in one! And when they help make it? They’re more excited to eat it. I have my toddler make several recipes with me weekly!

Snack time doesn’t have to be complicated. These toddler energy date bites are easy to make, fun to prep with your little one, and packed with goodness. I hope you give them a try, and maybe even sneak one or two for yourself!
