If you’re looking for an easy, wholesome breakfast for your little one, these baby led weaning blueberry waffles are a staple in our kitchen. They’re naturally sweetened with ripe banana, made with simple ingredients, and soft enough for tiny hands and gums. This recipe has quickly become one of my go-to breakfasts for my 8-month-old. It’s easy to make, freezer-friendly, and requires no added sugar!

Why These Ingredients Are Great for Babies
This recipe is made with ingredients you likely already have on hand. Each one plays a role in creating a soft, nutrient rich waffle that supports your baby’s growth and development.
- Banana: A naturally sweet fruit that adds flavor and moisture without needing any added sugar. Bananas are also a great source of potassium and fiber, making them gentle on baby’s tummy.
- Egg: Eggs are packed with protein and healthy fats, as well as choline, which supports brain development. If you’ve already introduced eggs, this is an easy way to incorporate them into meals.
- Whole Milk Yogurt: Yogurt adds creaminess and a boost of calcium and probiotics to support healthy digestion. It also helps keep the waffles soft inside.
- Milk: Using breast milk, formula, or regular milk provides extra creaminess and helps achieve the perfect batter consistency.
- Flour: All-purpose or whole wheat flour gives structure to the waffles while keeping them soft. Whole wheat flour adds a bit more fiber and nutrients.
- Blueberries: Blueberries are a great first fruit for babies. They’re rich in antioxidants and natural sweetness. For younger babies, you can gently smash them before mixing to reduce choking risk.

A Naturally Sweet, No Sugar Recipe
What I love most about this recipe is that it’s naturally sweetened with banana and blueberries, with no added sugar needed. The waffles come out soft and lightly sweet, making them perfect for baby led weaning. Because the texture is tender and not crispy, they’re easy for babies to pick up and gum. You can cut them into strips or small pieces depending on your baby’s age and self feeding skills.
These waffles come together in minutes and freeze beautifully, which makes them ideal for busy mornings. I like to make a batch on Sunday, freeze the extras, and reheat them in the toaster or oven during the week. This way, breakfast is ready in under five minutes without any fuss.

These baby led weaning blueberry waffles are a simple, nourishing breakfast that your little one will love. They’re naturally sweet, soft, and packed with nutrients, making them perfect for babies who are exploring new textures and flavors. You can enjoy them fresh or freeze a batch for quick breakfasts throughout the week. This recipe is one of those reliable, wholesome options that grows with your baby as they become more confident eaters.
