Breastfeeding as a second-time mom is a whole new experience. You may feel more confident in your ability to nurse, but juggling a newborn while caring for an older child adds a new layer of challenges. This time around, efficiency, comfort, and convenience are key. After nursing two babies, here are my must-have breastfeeding essentials to make the journey smoother!
You can also shop all my breastfeeding essentails on my LTK.
1. My Brest Friend Nursing Pillow
Even if you didn’t use one with your first baby, a nursing pillow can make a world of difference. It helps position your baby correctly, reducing strain on your back and arms. If you’re multitasking—maybe helping your toddler with a puzzle while nursing—having good support is crucial. I’ve used the Boppy and an Amazon brand nursing pillow my first time, but this time I’ve discovered the My Brest Friend Nursing Pillow which is my TOP REC.

2. A Comfortable Nursing Spot or Chair
Find a comfortable space where you can easily sit and nurse while keeping an eye on your older child. A rocking chair, glider, or even a cozy corner with extra pillows can make a big difference. I have the Babyletto Kiwi Electronic Recliner and Swivel Glider!

3. Comfortable Nursing Bras
Having a few high-quality nursing bras and tank tops makes breastfeeding on demand much easier. Look for comfortable, stretchy fabrics that allow for easy access, especially when you’re out with both kids. A well-fitting nursing bra provides the support you need while making feeding more convenient. I also love this nursing bra, which works with pumping and has a breastfeeding clasp.

4. Leak Proof Nursing Pads
Leaking is common, especially in the first few weeks. Reusable or disposable nursing pads help prevent embarrassing leaks and keep your clothing dry, which is essential when you’re on the go with two little ones.

5. Nipple Care Essentials – Silverettes
Silverettes are a game-changer for healing sore nipples naturally by protecting and soothing them between nursing sessions.

6. Nursing Cover
If you prefer a little privacy while breastfeeding in public or around guests, a nursing cover can be a great addition. Choose one that’s breathable, lightweight, and easy to use, so you and your baby stay comfortable. I linked this muslin one with a rigid hoop for that contact with baby and air ventilation.

7. Haaka Ladybug Milk Collectors
Haakaa Ladybug Milk Collectors are also great for collecting let-down milk from the opposite breast while feeding, preventing waste and helping build a stash effortlessly.

8. Milk Storage Bags
I use these storage bags to store my let down. I collect about 3-4 oz through my milk collectors per day. At the end of the day, I add them into storage bags to freeze!

9. Legendairy Sunflower Lecithin to Prevent Clogged Ducts
Clogged ducts can be painful and frustrating. Taking a sunflower lecithin supplement, like Legendairy’s, can help prevent clogs by thinning the milk and making it easier to flow, reducing the risk of mastitis.

10. Breastfeeding Essentials Kit
Having a small, portable breastfeeding kit can make nursing sessions more convenient. Keep a basket or pouch stocked with nipple cream, nursing pads, a burp cloth, therapy packs and items you find yourself reaching for often. This way, you’ll have everything you need within arm’s reach during feedings. This Lansinoh Breastfeeding Essentials Kit would be a great gift for your mama to be’s who plan to breastfeed!

Breastfeeding as a second-time mom comes with its own set of challenges, but having the right essentials can make the experience much smoother. Focus on comfort, convenience, and efficiency to make nursing more manageable while caring for two little ones. What are your must-have breastfeeding essentials? Share in the comments below!
