These are soft, delicious and definitely is one of my new favorite ways to use up my ripe bananas! The honey cream cheese on top is a touch of perfection!
I’m always in a banana bread phase but I wanted to switch things up and use it different. These walnut banana cake bars are gluten-free, soft and nutty! It’s topped with a simple 5-ingredient honey cream cheese frosting which can be made vegan with maple syrup in replacement of the honey it calls for. I used a vegan cream cheese but you can also use actual cream cheese as well 🙂
There is something so comforting about the smell of freshly baked banana bread out the oven! I’m the type that buys extra bananas every week during my grocery runs so I can bake my weekly banana recipe. This week was banana cake bars and I’m so happy I decided on this! The cream cheese is not optional by the way, it totally brings the recipe all the together! So good.
Walnuts is my favorite add-in when it comes to banana bread or cake because it compliments the flavor so well. It adds extra nutty flavor to this recipe since it already calls for almond flour.
These are going to start being in my rotation of baked goods. I froze the extras and they actually taste delicious defrosted for 2 minutes right out the freezer.
I’m currently on a plan to redo my whole blog soon. It will take some time but I will continue to share recipes here !! 🙂 Of course, they are always on my Instagram!
