Toddler Activity Workbook Part 24: Fun Learning Through Play (Ages 2–4)

April 22, 2026 by Winnie Kison Leave a Comment

If you’re looking for simple, engaging ways to teach your toddler at home, this workbook is filled with hands-on activities that blend learning with play. Each activity is designed to support early developmental skills while keeping your little one interested and involved!

Here is the link to my 52 Workbook Activities Guide (workbook focused). I also have an 8 Week Activity Guide (list of themed activities to do at home/outside). I also made matching flashcards for Weeks 1-4 and Weeks 5-8!

Here are the links to the 3 main supplies I use – other than colored markers!

  1. Sketchbook – It doesn’t bleed through even with sharpie or markers.
  2. Dot Markers – Use this for color, number or letter recognition. There is so much you can do with these markers!
  3. Dot Stickers – Use this for color recognition and creative crafting. My toddler loves them!

1. Build Your Own Pizza (Counting + Number Matching)

Supplies Needed:

  • White paper
  • Marker (to draw pizza + numbers)
  • Yellow construction paper (pizza slices)
  • Red dot stickers (pepperoni)
  • Scissors
  • Glue

How It Works:

Draw a large pizza divided into 8 slices and write a number in each slice. Then create separate pizza slices using construction paper, adding the correct number of “pepperoni” stickers to match each number. Your toddler matches each slice to the correct number and glues it on top.

Skills Challenged:

  • Number recognition
  • Counting skills
  • Matching
  • Fine motor skills
  • Hand-eye coordination

2. Color & Name the Shapes Cake

Supplies Needed:

  • White paper
  • Colored markers or crayons

How It Works:

Draw a tiered cake and fill each section with different shapes (circle, triangle, square, rectangle, pentagon, diamond). Use different colors for each shape. Your toddler colors each shape and names it as they go.

Skills Challenged:

  • Shape recognition
  • Color identification
  • Vocabulary development
  • Fine motor skills

3. Trace the Home (Color Matching + Pre-Writing)

Supplies Needed:

  • White paper
  • Multiple colored markers

How It Works:

Draw a house using dashed lines in different colors (roof, walls, windows, door). Your toddler selects the matching colored marker and traces each section.

Skills Challenged:

  • Pre-writing skills
  • Color matching
  • Focus and attention
  • Fine motor control

4. Dot the Letter E (Letter Recognition)

Supplies Needed:

  • White paper
  • Marker
  • Dot markers (or crayons/markers)

How It Works:

Write a mix of different letters across the page. Have your toddler find and dot only the letter “E.”

Skills Challenged:

  • Letter recognition
  • Visual discrimination
  • Early literacy skills
  • Fine motor development

5. Match the Circle Sizes (Visual + Spatial Awareness)

Supplies Needed:

  • White paper
  • Marker
  • Construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue

How It Works:

Draw circles in various sizes on paper. Cut out matching circles from construction paper. Your toddler matches and glues the correct size circle on top.

Skills Challenged:

  • Size differentiation
  • Visual perception
  • Spatial awareness
  • Problem-solving
  • Fine motor skills
